1. Age Requirements

According to insurance regulations, the minimum age for renting a car on a daily basis in Turkey is 21. For luxury cars, the renter must be over 24 years old.

2. Driving License Requirements

To rent luxury cars, your driver's license must have been issued at least 3 years prior.

3. Multiple Drivers

If multiple people will be driving the vehicle, all driver details must be included in the rental contract before the car is delivered, to avoid any issues later.

4. Deposit and Guarantees

Costs such as fines, damages, etc., must be guaranteed. Typically, a certain amount is blocked on your credit card as a deposit at the time of rental—this is called Provizyon in Turkey.

For Iranian tourists without a credit card, a cash deposit ranging from 2,000 to 5,000 TRY is usually required, which will be refunded upon return of the vehicle and final settlement.

Note: Based on Rentifa’s agreements with certain rental companies in Istanbul, these companies do not require a deposit from Iranian travelers. All costs are calculated and settled upon vehicle return.

5. Payment

The full rental fee must be paid at the time of car delivery, either by cash, credit card, bank transfer, or PayPal.

6. Pickup and Return Times

Pickup and return times and addresses must be specified. A delay of up to one hour is generally free, but delays beyond that will incur extra charges.

7. Fuel Policy

Cars are typically delivered with an empty fuel tank and should be returned empty. Make sure to check the fuel level when receiving the vehicle. If there is leftover fuel upon return, it will not be reimbursed.

8. Toll Fees

Most rental cars in Turkey come equipped with automatic toll payment systems (HGS or OGS). Toll fees are calculated and charged to the renter upon vehicle return.

9. International Travel

Traveling outside Turkey with a rental car is strictly prohibited.

10. Mileage Limits

If your rental has a mileage limit and you exceed it, you will be charged 5 to 10 TRY per extra kilometer, depending on the car type.

11. Vehicle Condition Documentation

Take photos and videos of the vehicle at the time of rental to avoid being wrongly held responsible for any pre-existing damage.

12. Highway Toll System

Most highways in Turkey have modern automatic toll systems (HGS or OGS). Charges are applied automatically when the car passes sensors. These tolls are calculated and billed at the end of your rental period.

13. Child Seating Rules

Children under 10 years old are not allowed to sit in the front seat.

14. Child Seats

For children under 4 years old, child seats are mandatory.

15. Parking

Similar to Iran, Turkey uses parking meters and attendants. Hourly parking fees in Istanbul vary by location and start from 20 TRY per hour.

16. Substitute Vehicles

If the reserved vehicle is unavailable for any reason, a similar model will be provided.

17. Mileage Limit per Rental Period

Mileage limits adjust based on rental duration. For example, a car with a daily 200 km limit would allow 4,500 km for a 1-month rental—not 6,000 km.

18. Online Booking Payment

Up to 20% of the rental amount is charged during online booking on the Rentifa platform. The remaining balance is paid in TRY, EUR, or USD at the time of delivery and contract signing in Turkey.

19. Additional Services

Requests such as an extra child seat or a second driver are subject to additional charges.

Important Note

Pickup and return of most vehicles booked via Rentifa are free at all airports in Turkey. For other locations, delivery and pickup fees depend on the distance from the rental company’s office.

Insurance

In the event of an accident where you are at fault and a police report is filed, you will be responsible for 5% to 10% of the damage cost, with the rest covered by insurance. However, you will be liable for loss of vehicle usage time and market depreciation.

Important Exceptions

If you violated traffic laws at the time of the accident (e.g., speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs), insurance may not cover any damages, and you will bear the full cost.

Insurance also does not cover damages if you fail to notify the police and obtain a formal accident report.

Vehicle Replacement Policy

During holidays or peak periods, due to high demand, the brand of the vehicle may differ from the reserved model. For example, booking a Renault Clio Automatic means you’ve reserved a hatchback of similar size and class. Depending on availability, you may receive a Hyundai i20, Opel Corsa, Citroën C3, Dacia Sandero, or even an upgraded model like the Renault Taliant.
